From my experience local companies definitely give you more personal attention. The nationwide ones can feel like you’re just another case number. That said some big firms do have more resources for complex cases.

My brother used them and said they were very responsive at the start but after he paid communication slowed down a lot. He did get into a settlement eventually but it took months longer than expected.

My cousin worked with them and said it was a mixed experience. The company kept in touch and handled all the communication but the settlement wasn’t as low as he hoped. It still gave him peace of mind though.

Scam or actually helpful?If you are on the fence I’d suggest getting quotes from a couple of local CPAs or tax attorneys. In my experience they are usually more transparent and sometimes even cheaper than the big national firms.

They take the IRS stress off your shoulders. If you’re okay paying a premium for that peace of mind it can make sense. If not just go direct.
