I looked into them last year when I had tax debt. What turned me off was that the sales pitch felt like I was being pressured into signing a contract. The rep kept emphasizing limited time opportunities which made me uneasy.

My cousin used them for back taxes. They did manage to lower some penalties but it wasn’t a huge reduction. He still owed most of the balance. He said the process was super slow nd communication wasn’t great.

I personally would not recommend them. They quoted me a few thousand after the initial fee and when i asked what exactly they’d be doing that i couldn’t the answers were vague. I ended up calling the IRS directly and got set up on a payment plan in less than an hour.

I used Optima a couple of years back. They did take an upfront fee for the investigation but in my case they ended up negotiating an installment plan with the IRS that i could have done myself. It wasn’t a total scam but I felt like I paid for convenience more than results.

I’m in a bit of a situation with the IRS and have been looking at different tax relief companies. One name that keeps popping up is Tax Relief Advocates. Supposedly, they help with things like reducing what you owe, setting up payment plans, stopping wage garnishments, and that sort of stuff.

Has anyone here dealt with Optima Tax Relief before? I’ve seen their ads everywhere and even some big name sites seem to recommend them but I’m not sure how legit they actually are.
