I went with a bigger service just for peace of mind since they had a long track record. But i didn’t love that i was passed around between multiple people during the process.

One thing to watch for is upfront fees. My local firm charged a smaller flat fee compared to the thousands quoted by a national service. That sealed the deal for me.

I used a nationwide tax relief company and they actually did deliver results. It was not cheap but they reduced my overall debt and stopped the scary IRS letters.

Local companies can sometimes have limited staff. Mine was great but also busy so updates took longer than i wanted. A bigger firm may have more dedicated teams.

A family friend recommended a local tax attorney and he was excellent. He even helped with state tax issues that a national company might not have focused on as much.

I think the main difference is customer service. Bigger names may be efficient but smaller local ones will usually know you personally and make you feel like more than just a file number.

I went with a national firm because I move around a lot and it was nice not to be tied to one city. They handled everything over phone and email with no problem.
