I used both TurboTax and HR Block over the years and to be honest both have pulled similar tricks with pricing. They make it look free at the start and by the end you owe $40 or more. Maybe the entire industry needs stricter rules on how they advertise tax services.

I have used TaxSlayer for three consecutive years now. The consistency and ease of use keep me coming back. The price is unbeatable and i trust the calculations. As long as my tax situation stays simple i have no reason to switch.

I like TurboTax for its peace of mind. It checks everything and makes you feel like a professional reviewed it. But when I compared both, the results were exactly the same. So now I’m not sure the extra cost is really justified.

I tried it out just to see if it was real and surprisingly it worked better than expected. My return went through without any glitches and i got my refund in the normal timeframe. For something that costs a fraction of the big names i would say it’s definitely legit.

TurboTax feels more polished to me but i won’t lie it’s expensive once you add everything up. They kind of start you off thinking it is cheap but then if you need certain forms, the cost goes up fast.
