I have seen a few people on Reddit talking about being overcharged by HR Block. Some even said they did not realize they were on the paid version until the very end. If that is true it really does sound like a shady business tactic. I’m curious to see how the case turns out.

I used both TaxSlayer and TurboTax before and the main difference i noticed was speed. TaxSlayer loaded faster and was less cluttered. TurboTax feels more guided but TaxSlayer’s simplicity is refreshing if you know what you are doing. Definitely good value for money.

The biggest difference i saw is customer support. TurboTax has live chat and even real CPAs you can pay to talk to while FreeTaxUSA just has email support. That could be a deal breaker for some. Personally i did not need any help, so FreeTaxUSA worked fine for me.

If you do your taxes every year and are comfortable with it, TaxAct is the better deal. But if you get nervous about messing something up, TurboTax gives more peace of mind. I have stuck with TurboTax for that reason.

I filed my taxes with Cash App Taxes last year and had no issues at all. They accepted my return within 24 hours and the refund came just as quickly as any other software i had used. The only thing i noticed is that the layout is less flashy. But honestly who cares about design if it is free and reliable?

I used them one year when i had a complicated situation with side income. They took care of it a lot faster than i could have done myself. The whole process felt professional and not as stressful as i expected. The next year when my taxes were simpler, i just did them online again. But if things get messy, i would definitely go back to Jackson Hewitt.

I recently came across Taxslayer while looking for cheaper tax software options. The price point looks pretty attractive compared to some of the bigger names out there, but i honestly do not know much about how reliable it is. The name itself makes it sound kind of bold but that does not always mean it is trustworthy when it comes to something…

I used to be loyal to TurboTax but the rising costs pushed me to try Credit Karma Tax. Honestly, I do not miss much except the slightly more polished layout TurboTax has. Credit Karma gets the job done without charging me for every little thing. The peace of mind of not worrying about a surprise fee is huge. For simple filing, i would recommend…

FreeTaxUSA saved me a ton compared to H&R Block. Filing federal for free and paying a small fee for state was a nice change from dropping $100+. I double nchecked my return manually and everything was correct. For simple to moderate returns it’s a great option.

H&R Block’s prices seem more reasonable to me compared to TurboTax once you start needing premium features. I remember paying a lot more with TurboTax one year just because i had a small amount of investment income. H&R Block handled the same situation without that big jump in cost. For people on a budget, i think H&R Block might be the better…
