When i filed with them my refund came back right on time. I was worried something might get delayed but it did not. They even sent me email updates so i knew what was happening. That little bit of communication made me feel better about the whole process. Overall i had no issues with them at all.

The Walmart locations are hit or miss depending on when you go. I went once and had to wait almost an hour because it was so busy. The service itself was good once i got in but the wait was annoying. If you go during off peak hours though it is much smoother. I would say timing is the key for those smaller setups.

I really liked their customer service. The preparer i worked with was friendly, patient and took the time to go over details. I have been to other places where i felt like i was being rushed out the door. With Jackson Hewitt i actually felt like they cared about getting it right. That made me trust them more with my return.

The main downside for me was the cost. I felt like it was more expensive than it needed to be, but i also did not shop around much. I was just in a rush to get my taxes done. On the bright side at least i knew it was filed correctly. Sometimes you’re paying for convenience and reassurance more than anything else.

That was comforting because sometimes the software explanations are too vague. It’s not perfect but i would say it’s a decent balance between DIY and professional help.

Jackson Hewitt is great for people who do not want to mess with tax software. My aunt goes every year because she wants a real person to guide her. I expected the appointment to take forever but i was done in about an hour. Everything was organized and the person i worked with knew what they were doing. They answered my questions without making me feel rushed. It was way less stressful than i thought it would be. Honestly it was smoother than some other tax services i have tried.

They do have refund advance options but you really have to read the fine print. I thought about it once but the fees did not make sense for me. It can be handy if you are in a bind and need money right away. Personally i would rather just wait for my refund. For some people though, i can see why it would help.

I used them one year when i had a complicated situation with side income. They took care of it a lot faster than i could have done myself. The whole process felt professional and not as stressful as i expected. The next year when my taxes were simpler, i just did them online again. But if things get messy, i would definitely go back to Jackson Hewitt.
