I went in thinking it would be around $100 but mine came out to $190. It wasn’t cheap but the preparer caught an education credit i had overlooked. That alone made up for the extra fee.

The main thing you are paying for is personal service. They sit down with you ask questions and make sure you don’t miss deductions. If you’re confident with software, though you might feel like the cost isn’t worth it.

I had a friend who paid close to $400 because he had multiple properties and self employment income. That is probably on the higher end but it shows how much the price can vary at H&R Block.
