One thing people forget is that both of them guarantee accuracy. So no matter which one you use, you should be covered if there is an issue. That gave me more confidence to try TaxAct instead of paying extra.

TurboTax’s step-by-step system is great if you like having everything explained in detail but it can feel like a lot of extra screens to get through. TaxAct on the other hand, is faster and works better if you already have a good idea of what you are doing.

I used TurboTax for years, but i decided to try TaxAct because i was tired of the high cost. To my surprise i did not miss much. It may not be as polished, but it got the job done correctly, and i ended up saving money.

If you do your taxes every year and are comfortable with it, TaxAct is the better deal. But if you get nervous about messing something up, TurboTax gives more peace of mind. I have stuck with TurboTax for that reason.

The refund amount came out the same for me on both, so in the end they did the same job. The only difference was the price and how easy the process felt. TurboTax was easier but cost more, TaxAct was cheaper but a little less smooth.

When i used TaxAct, I felt like it was built for people who already understand taxes a little bit. TurboTax on the other hand is perfect for beginners who need step-by-step guidance. Both filed successfully though, so they work.

I started with TurboTax years ago because everyone was using it. Later i switched to TaxAct and realized i could do the same thing for way less. The interface is not as pretty but once you know the basics, it is really not a big deal.

One thing to keep in mind is that TurboTax has a lot of upsells. They try to push you into upgrades and paid features. TaxAct does not push as hard which i appreciated. It made the whole experience feel more straightforward.

I like how TurboTax explains everything in plain language. Even when i had to deal with deductions, it broke it down step by step. TaxAct just kind of throws the forms at you. Some people prefer that, but I personally like more guidance.

The biggest difference for me was cost. TurboTax started cheap but got expensive once i added my state return and self-employment forms. TaxAct was much more affordable. If you are doing a simple return, TaxAct makes more sense in my opinion.
