I have a small business and i used HR Block’s software last year. The pricing jumped when i added my 1099 forms. I did not realize that was not part of the free plan. It was confusing and frustrating so i can totally see how this lawsuit came about.

One thing i really like about TaxSlayer is the price transparency. You know upfront what you are paying for. I used TurboTax before and got hit with add on charges at the end. TaxSlayer never did that to me which was refreshing.

I used TurboTax for a long time until i realized how many hidden fees there were. Then i tried FreeTaxUSA and got the same results for way less money. The whole experience was much calmer without all the pop-ups and “upgrade” prompts.

When i first tried TaxAct, it felt a bit plain compared to TurboTax, but the process was still accurate and straightforward. The lack of bells and whistles did not bother me because it got the job done. TurboTax is nicer to look at but you definitely pay extra for that.

I think Cash App Taxes is underrated. People assume free means low quality, but it is actually a really good alternative to the expensive software. It covered my deductions and even pointed out one i did not know about. Filing was smooth and i did not pay a single cent.

I think Taxslayer is a good option for people who want something simple and affordable. I used it for a basic W-2 return and it went through fine. No errors, no delays just straightforward filing.

I compared the numbers between TaxAct and TurboTax just to test. Both gave me the same refund amount. That was enough proof for me that TaxAct was just as accurate. Since it was cheaper, i decided to stick with it.

I tried both and the refund time was the same. Some people think TurboTax gets you money faster but that is not true. The IRS controls that part not the software. So really the main differences are cost, guidance and how smooth the interface feels.
