To be fair HR Block’s customer service is pretty solid. When i had an issue a couple of years ago they handled it quickly. So i am not sure if this lawsuit is a big scandal or just blown out of proportion. I will wait to see what the court decides.

I do freelance work and TaxSlayer actually handled my 1099 forms really well. It did not overcomplicate the process and i liked that it explained deductions clearly. It saved me a good chunk of money compared to paying for TurboTax Self Employed.

What made me stick with FreeTaxUSA was the transparency. TurboTax kept increasing my total cost without warning, while FreeTaxUSA showed everything upfront. I like software that is honest about pricing. The whole filing process was straightforward.

TurboTax definitely feels friendlier but you pay for that friendliness. If someone is confident enough with numbers TaxAct is a great way to save money without losing accuracy.

My husband and i both used Cash App Taxes this time around. We each had W-2s and some credits to claim. The process was smooth and both returns were accepted. We did not spend anything at all which is amazing compared to what we used to pay. I would definitely call it legit.

The main downside for me was the cost. I felt like it was more expensive than it needed to be, but i also did not shop around much. I was just in a rush to get my taxes done. On the bright side at least i knew it was filed correctly. Sometimes you’re paying for convenience and reassurance more than anything else.

I would say Taxslayer is legit bcz i have used it myself. I was able to file both state and federal returns without confusion. The pricing was fair, and there were no surprise charges at the end.

I used TaxAct for a joint return with my spouse and it went fine. It guided us through income, deductions, and credits just like any other software. The refund came on time and i never had to deal with the IRS after filing. For me that is all i want.

TaxSlayer is underrated. I run a small side business and it handled my self employment taxes just fine. The process was not as fancy but it worked. TurboTax would have charged me much more for the same thing so i felt like i got a better deal.

Credit Karma Tax is decent but it could definitely improve its guidance on deductions. I feel that i may have missed out on some smaller ones. Other software usually explains them in more detail.
