These lawsuits can go either way. Sometimes the company settles just to avoid bad publicity. I am curious if HR Block will admit any wrongdoing or just settle quietly. Either way it might make all the tax prep companies rethink how they advertise.

I think TaxSlayer is underrated. It does everything most people need and costs much less. I used to think only the big name tax software could be trusted but this one has been completely reliable for me. I plan to stick with it.

The only issue i had with FreeTaxUSA was that the design felt a bit dated on mobile. But it still worked fine and saved me over $60 compared to TurboTax. Once you get used to the simpler layout, it is actually very easy to navigate.

TaxAct’s interface feels a bit dated compared to TurboTax. It works fine but it definitely has more of an old-school look. If design and visuals matter to you TurboTax is the clear winner.

I gave it a try for my small side hustle income, and it was able to handle it. I was not sure if it could do self employment but it guided me through. The return got accepted without a problem. I saved a good chunk of money by not paying for upgraded software. I was impressed.

The Walmart locations are hit or miss depending on when you go. I went once and had to wait almost an hour because it was so busy. The service itself was good once i got in but the wait was annoying. If you go during off peak hours though it is much smoother. I would say timing is the key for those smaller setups.

I used Taxslayer this season and i would say it is solid. It does not have all the bells and whistles but it takes you step by step through what you need. My taxes were accepted with no problems.

TaxAct might not have the fanciest design, but it gets the job done. I had multiple W-2s, some 1099 income and even investment income last year. It walked me through all of that without problems. My return was accepted quickly. No complaints.

I remember the first time i used TurboTax i was shocked at how much easier it was compared to doing everything on paper. But after a few years i realized i did not need all the extra help anymore. That is when i switched to TaxSlayer and i have not looked back since.

I’m glad more people are talking about Credit Karma Tax. I don’t think enough folks realize how much they can save by switching. I used to spend $100+ every year on tax prep.
