I stopped using HR Block a couple of years ago for the same reason this lawsuit is describing. The price went up unexpectedly at checkout and i felt tricked. I switched to FreeTaxUSA instead and had a much clearer experience.

I noticed TaxSlayer’s help articles are actually pretty good. When i was unsure about a deduction i found clear guidance right in their support section. You do not really need to contact support unless it is something specific.

I have self-employment income, and both tools handled my Schedule C just fine. TurboTax looked prettier doing it, but FreeTaxUSA didn’t skip anything. I even double checked the math and it matched perfectly. I will keep saving the extra money.

One thing i like about TaxAct is that it gives you the forms upfront without hiding things behind multiple clicks. TurboTax simplifies everything into questions, which is fine but sometimes i just want to see the actual form layout.

I have to say i was impressed. The interface was not overwhelming and it guided me through the questions step by step. I filed my return got it accepted and received my refund all without paying. I used to dread the fees from other software so this felt like a win.

My experience with them was solid overall. Nothing over the top amazing, but also nothing went wrong. They got my taxes done, answered my questions and filed everything without issues. Sometimes that’s all you really want. I would probably go back if i didn’t feel like handling it myself next year.

I have tried both TurboTax and Taxslayer, and honestly they both worked fine for me. The only difference was the price. Taxslayer saved me money, so i am planning to stick with it. It’s definitely legit.

I like TaxAct for the simple reason that it is straightforward. It does not try to upsell as much as some of the other software. I got through my filing without being asked to upgrade multiple times, which was refreshing.

For me security is important. TurboTax has more layers of identity verification and i feel safer using it. TaxSlayer is fine but i just feel like a bigger company has more resources to protect my data. That is one reason i stick with TurboTax.
