Has anyone else been following the recent HR Block lawsuit news? I came across a few articles mentioning that the company is facing legal action related to its pricing and how it allegedly handles online tax filing services. It seems like some customers are claiming they were charged more than expected or misled about the free filing options. I…

One thing people forget is that both of them guarantee accuracy. So no matter which one you use, you should be covered if there is an issue. That gave me more confidence to try TaxAct instead of paying extra.

Steven replied to the discussion Is Cash App Taxes Legit in the forum Tax & Finance 5 months ago
Yes Cash App Taxes is completely legit. I filed last season and my return was processed without any hiccups. I did not have anything complicated like rental income or investments though just wages and dependents. If your taxes are fairly straightforward you will probably be happy with it. It really is free and secure.

Jackson Hewitt is great for people who do not want to mess with tax software. My aunt goes every year because she wants a real person to guide her. She likes being able to ask questions in the moment and feel like someone is accountable. The cost does not bother her because she feels more confident in the results. i think it depends on…

The thing i liked about Taxslayer is that it does not bombard you with upsells like other tax programs. It just walks you through the forms you need. My return was filed without problems, so yes i would say it’s legit.

I did my taxes on TaxAct this year with both federal and state and it was straightforward. I liked that it checked for mistakes before submitting. The whole process took less time than i thought it would. It might not be the most advanced looking software but it works.

For me mobile experience matters because i usually file on my phone. TurboTax has a slicker app that is easier to use with fewer glitches. TaxSlayer works but feels clunky at times. If you care about filing on the go TurboTax might be better.

Steven replied to the discussion Credit Karma Tax Review in the forum Tax & Finance 6 months ago
One thing that impressed me was how well Credit Karma Tax calculated my self employment tax. I was nervous about messing that up but it walked me through clearly. It might not have the detailed expense breakdowns like premium software but it covered the basics. And at the end of the day that’s all i needed. Plus, free is hard to beat. i will…

Steven replied to the discussion Is Freetaxusa Legit in the forum Tax & Finance 6 months ago
I have tried both TurboTax and FreeTaxUSA and honestly while TurboTax has a nicer design, FreeTaxUSA handled everything just as well for a fraction of the price. The refund i got matched exactly what TurboTax showed me so i did not feel like i was missing out on anything. After that experience i could not justify spending extra money on the bigger name.

Steven replied to the discussion Turbotax vs H&R Block in the forum Tax & Finance 6 months ago
I switched to H&R Block when i started a small side business. Their office staff was able to answer a lot of my questions that i did not even realize mattered. That kind of human interaction gave me confidence i filed correctly. TurboTax just did not give me that reassurance when things got more complicated.
