I have been comparing FreeTaxUSA vs TurboTax lately because i am planning ahead for the next tax season. Both are popular options but they definitely feel different when you start using them. TurboTax has that very polished and guided setup that walks you through everything step by step and almost feels like you are talking to someone. The…

I used TurboTax for years, but i decided to try TaxAct because i was tired of the high cost. To my surprise i did not miss much. It may not be as polished, but it got the job done correctly, and i ended up saving money.

For me Cash App Taxes was a lifesaver. I had a pretty basic return and did not want to spend $70+ with TurboTax again. It covered all the basics and got me filed quickly. The fact that it is completely free makes it legit in my book. I think for simple tax situations it is more than enough.

They do have refund advance options but you really have to read the fine print. I thought about it once but the fees did not make sense for me. It can be handy if you are in a bind and need money right away. Personally i would rather just wait for my refund. For some people though, i can see why it would help.

I switched to Taxslayer mainly because of the cost. I did not want to keep paying $100+ for other software. To my surprise it handled my return just fine. Everything was accepted and i even found some deductions i might have overlooked otherwise.

The first year i tried TaxAct i was hesitant. But after filing, I realized it was not much different from other services. It gave me the forms i needed, did the calculations and filed everything electronically. Nothing went wrong, and i saved some money compared to other platforms.

I think TurboTax is the better option if you are new to filing and nervous about making mistakes. The explanations make it feel like you have someone guiding you. For experienced filers, though, TaxSlayer can save a lot of money without sacrificing accuracy.

The good thing about Credit Karma Tax is that it is not just for one type of filer. I used it when i only had W-2 income, and later when i had some self employment income as well. Both times it worked fine. It guided me through the self employment section without being confusing. I would not call it perfect, but for free software it…

My experience was smooth with FreeTaxUSA. I like that it gives you all the forms you need without charging for every little thing. It even reminded me of deductions i usually forget. For a budget friendly platform it felt just as reliable as others i have used.

B.taylor replied to the discussion Turbotax vs H&R Block in the forum Tax & Finance 6 months ago
One thing i like about H&R Block is that you can store your old tax returns with them. I was able to go back and easily pull up old documents when i refinanced my mortgage. TurboTax makes you pay for past years unless you’ve saved everything yourself. That small detail made me switch bcz i like having everything in one secure place.
